Unmanned plane for the PROTEUS Project is prepared in the Research Laboratories of the Mobile Systems in University of Technology in Poznań.
Its task will be to support actions during crisis situations, thanks to the observations, other data collecting from the dangerous places and data transferring to the Master Control Station. Information, which is provided by the Unmanned Planes, helps with making the decisions and coordination of the services involved in the rescue actions. The deck computers in the unmanned planes enable autonomous flights, even beyond the area of the radio link. Unmanned plane will carry out the risky tasks without the pilot’s life risk. Besides its usage will enable the costs limitation and time saving in the comparison with manned flights.
The Unmanned plane may be equipped with:
- optical cameras;
- thermo-visual cameras;
- sensors of the chemical and radioactive contamination.
According to that it will be possible to:
- determine the security zones
- create the contamination maps;
- support during the action control on the tactical level;
- estimate the damages;
- search victims in the extreme situations in example under the ruins;
- measure the fire temperature;
- detect the areas endangered by the fire;
- predict the fire and contamination spreading.
The fundamental advantage of the Unmanned Planes is the possibility to supplement and modification, as well as constructions, equipment and software, which will enable its adaptation to the crisis situation specification.
